22 août

PMI’s IT & Telecom Community of Practice webinar with Stephane Chalvin, PMP

Did you know that Transition management practitioners have suggested that over two thirds of failed outsourcing relationships are due to transition-related challenges (Beulen, Tiwari, van Heck, 2011)?

The lack of specific literature on this subject, has led to many misconceptions, starting with vocabulary, which can sometimes lead to misunderstandings when discussing transition with non-experts.

An IT Outsourcing relationship always starts with a Transition, which is typically a complex program composed of several interrelated projects which can affect nearly every key aspect of the client business.

The goal of this webinar is to give you a high level understanding of transitions challenges in the context of an IT Outsourcing relationship. We will first describe the key phases of an IT Outsourcing and the associated vocabulary. We will then focus on the Transition, looking at what makes it different from many IT projects. This presentation does not require any technical knowledge and will be easy to follow.

Stephane Chalvin is a French citizen that lived in the USA and UK. He has been leading IT Outsourcing Transitions and Transformations for large global accounts since 2006, most recently as a Transition Director for a global IT service provider.

September 25 – Webinar (PMI) – Outsourcing IT functionality to the Cloud

17 sept

An IT and Telecom Community of Practice webinar organized by PMI with Lindsay Whitehead, PMP

25 September 2013 • 10-11 PM EDT (4PM CET/France)

Lindsay Whitehead

The concept of outsourcing is nothing new. In the early 20th century, companies kept control of all their means of production – people, resources and property, normally all in one location. But competition drove (and continues to drive) the need to find improvements in operation. Companies then began to contract out – using external resources but retaining management control. In the 21st century, this has given way to outsourcing – where the provider becomes responsible to deliver a service as it sees fit, subject to governance from the engaging company. The latest in a line of improvements to best practice is IT outsourcing to the cloud. Now companies can use an on demand facility with no need to be concerned with how, by whom or where the work to provide the service is done.

Lindsay Whitehead, PMP, lives in Melbourne, Australia, and for the last 7 years has been Project Delivery Manager for Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), responsible for applications projects delivery in Australia.

7 Avril – Genève – Project Management Challenges in Modern Outsourcing

1 avr

Wondering about the outsourcing and what kind of techniques will help you during outsourcing?

PMI Switzerland chapter brings you an excellent evening to discuss and learn what tools and techniques best suits the changing outsourcing environment.

Outsourcing started in the manufacturing industry, today it has spread to almost every industry, and tomorrow it’ll enter your personal life. Traditional outsourcing is compartmentalized, long-term and inflexible. Modern outsourcing is communicative, lean and adaptable. What new challenges do these shifts pose to project managers and teams involved in the outsourcing process?

After the current outsourcing shifts and trends are outlined, the attendees are faced with a case study and a set of Project Management challenges. The attendees must demonstrate their PM skills as they discuss in groups what tools and techniques best remedy the various challenges.
