This gathering of Engineers and Project Managers together is a unique opportunity to expand your professional network, learn from diverse backgrounds and share your experience through a real project in Ghana.

The “Accra Flooding Initiative” has been launched by the “PMI Ghana Chapter” together with “Project Managers Without Borders” with the aim to set up an action plan for the prevention of regular floodings in the Accra region in Ghana.

The theme of the event is different from typical ones and will give you the opportunity to learn and share your project management skills and experience with engineers to develop solutions to a real challenge facing the authorities in Ghana. As the Ghana capital (Accra) is flooded on a yearly basis, the local authorities are looking for ideas for a complete stakeholder analysis, impact analysis and help with the design of engineering solutions.

This  workshop will allow you to provide expert advice and recommendations from international and recognized Engineers and Project Managers to the Accra authorities on the recurrent floodings in their city.

A lot of good reasons for the project managers and especially PMP® certified PMs to attend this workshop:

Kris Troukens

Kris Troukens

–        Excellent brainstorm possibilities and group discussions on technical or environmental issues, fully in line with PMBOK.

–        Help an NGO to realize a true project

We will have the pleasure to have Kris Troukens (PMP®) as the speaker and the facilitator for this event. Kris is a member of “Project Management Without borders” and is working on this project in Ghana for which he needs the support of engineers and project managers.

Clients and teams can improve value under a framework or alliance, using a pipeline of work to build on their experience and establish more efficient working practices. However, bespoke documents are costly for clients to initiate and much harder for teams to implement.

18 January – Bern (#PMI®) – Critical success factors for successful project management in public industries

21 Déc

Challenging public transformation projects often make the headlines!

infrastructure-220x120Global trends, such as tech breakthroughs, and demographic and social changes, are forcing both private and public organisations to transform to survive and this in a highly dynamic and competitive environment. This has prompted the public sector to invest billions every year in projects and programmes to improve public services and renew infrastructure.

This event is organized by PMI Switzerland Chapter.

Despite this huge investment, many of these transformation initiatives are facing challenges and failing to meet the desired objectives in terms of benefits achieved or delivery to budget and schedule − or both.

Challenging public transformations often make the headlines, in Switzerland too. Prominent examples include the cancellation of the Insieme IT project for the Federal Tax Administration, and the new Land Forces Command Info System for the Swiss armed forces.

You might get the impression that public-sector projects are more likely to struggle than those in other industries.

Can this be? What are the keys to success in public-sector projects?

In this interactive presentation you will find out about the key challenges faced in public-sector projects, how such projects differ from projects in other sectors, and ways of identifying the common root causes of failure. You will also get insights into the key lessons learned from our experience, the main areas to focus on to ensure successful project delivery in the public sector and what other industries can learn from public projects.
